What types of agreements can I use the AI Addendum with?

The AI Addendum can be used with the Common Paper CSA or Software License Agreement. It is designed to be a modular add-on to Common Paper standards, and the defined terms and variables may not be correct if it is used with a non-Common Paper agreement.

How does the AI Addendum affect the underlying agreement?

The AI Addendum is a separate document that modifies or supplements the terms of the primary agreement. It clarifies specific aspects of the contract related to AI use, but it does not replace the main agreement. Both documents should be read together to fully understand the rights, responsibilities, and expectations of both parties. The addendum should explicitly reference the primary agreement and be incorporated by reference to make it part of the contractual obligations.

Why are there different versions of the AI Addendum?

There are a few different ways to use the AI Addendum, and each one has its own version. To add the AI Addendum to an existing, already signed agreement, use the Standalone Amendment version. To attach the AI Addendum to an in-progress agreement in the Common Paper platform, use the In-App Attachment version. To use the AI Addendum for a new deal outside the Common Paper platform, use the Cloud Service Agreement (with AI) or Software License Agreement (with AI).

How do I use this AI Addendum?

To use this Order Form, first download a copy of it in your preferred format. Then, fill in details about the existing Common Paper CSA you are using and the product or access changes under the new Order Form. Finally, sign the Order Form with your counterparty via the signing process of your choice.

Can I customize the AI Addendum?

Yes, you can feel free to change the AI Addendum any way you like by using the Cover Page. The only thing you are required to keep is the license information and link to the Standard Terms.

I see this agreement is hosted online. Does that mean it will change?

The latest version of the Addendum is 1.0, and it will remain unchanged and hosted at commonpaper.com/standards/ai-addendum/1.0. We expect future changes to occur infrequently, and they will be posted as a new version when they happen. New versions will not change or otherwise impact agreements that incorporate prior versions.

Can I customize the Standard Terms?

All modifications to the Standard Terms should be made on the Cover Page. Incorporating the Standard Terms by reference from the Common Paper website gives both sides assurance that all key details and modifications are explicitly called out in the Cover Page.

What license is this agreement released under?

Common Paper agreements are free to use and modify under CC BY 4.0.
